Office Information: About Your Visit

Office Policies

Thank you for selecting Arizona Bone & Joint Specialists, a Division of OSNA, to serve your orthopaedic needs. It is our intention to provide you with the best orthopaedic care available. This page contains information to familiarize you with our practice and is designed to answer questions that patients most often ask. Feel free to address further questions to any of our staff. We are here to serve your needs.

Our practice is limited to the specialty of orthopaedics, which is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system in both adults and children. Sports medicine concerns the evaluation and treatment of injuries incurred in the course of athletic endeavors.

Our doctors are board certified orthopaedic surgeons. Each is committed to providing you with the most current methods of treatment available. Participating in continuing education courses and study keeps us at the forefront of orthopaedic progress.

It is your option to select your personal physician from among the doctors in our group. He will manage the great majority of your care. Should you have a problem that requires immediate attention and your doctor is not available, one of our other doctors will be available to assist you. Your doctor will normally assume your care upon his return. If, in the case of an emergency, you are taken to a local emergency facility, you may request that we be called to care for your orthopaedic needs.

We are always interested in any suggestions as to how we can better serve the needs of our patients. Please contact the office administrator at 602.493.9361 with your concerns and comments.

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Appointments may be scheduled by calling any of our two locations between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. We will always make an attempt to schedule your appointment in a timely fashion. We make every effort to keep our appointment schedule on time but emergencies and other unforeseen events sometimes cause unavoidable delays. In such cases, we will do our best to keep you informed. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please contact the office as soon as possible so that we may try to utilize that time for the care of other patients.

Phone Calls

Our phone policies are intended to minimize interruptions during the office schedule but to answer necessary questions and care for urgent problems. Urgent calls will be handled immediately. Routine calls will be returned later that day or within 24 hours. Our staff is thoroughly trained in handling your messages and we appreciate your cooperation with them. When you receive instructions from our office, please follow them carefully and contact us if you have further questions. Calls to the Physicians Medical Assistants should be made during their administrative time. If you wish to speak directly to your physician, please tell our staff and the physician will return your call.

In case of a life threatening emergency, please call 911.

Prescriptions & Refills

Prescription refills are issued during office hours only by phoning 602.493.9361. For patient protection and legal reasons our office policy prohibits prescription refills after hours or on weekends. Anticipate your refill needs and do not wait until you are out of your medication to call. Should you experience any side effects to your medication, please stop taking it promptly and call us.

Fees

We share your concern about the increasing costs of medical care. Because statements and billing fees have become so expensive, and in an effort to keep your medical costs down, we ask that you pay for office visits at the time the services are rendered. Our fees are usual and customary for this area. Fees for surgery include the usual follow-up care, but do not include x-rays, casts or bandages. The fee for a first office visit or a new problem will be higher than the fee for a follow-up visit. We will be happy to discuss fees with you, and an estimate of fees for any surgical procedure will be given when requested. Co-Pays must be paid at the time of check-in for an appointment.

HIV Policy

All employees of Arizona Bone & Joint Specialists, a Division of OSNA, and its physicians, or agents, shall treat persons who have HIV disease in a manner equal to that in which they treat persons who do not have HIV disease. Thus, Arizona Bone & Joint Specialist physicians and other professional staff shall provide medical services to persons who have HIV disease, and shall not refer such persons to other physicians because the person has HIV disease.

Any discrimination by any person in the employ of Arizona Bone & Joint Specialists found to be discriminating against anyone with HIV, would be in violation of our policy, and immediately dismissed.

This office does not discriminate against any person on the basis of disability, including persons who have HIV disease or AIDS. We treat each and every patient on the same terms and conditions that such services are provided to patients who do not have a disability.

Physicians and other professional staff are educated orally and in writing as a condition of employment to be kept with other forms in their file, and must sign same.
